“Poverty is like punishment for a crime you didn’t commit”- Project Aavahan

During a social reach, I came across a guy named Abdul, aged 24. He is a graduate in B.A. Hindi.  However, he is a graduate but he is working as a Plumber at a Hardware Shop. It is totally a wastage of his knowledge and skill due to the burden of poverty. In this age, people usually dream to get settle into high jobs and then have a financially secured life but this guy doesn’t have many expectations from his life. This boy wants to be a skilled Stenographer but because of his responsibilities towards his family, he left behind his dream, settled for this plumber job, and earns a meager amount of penny every month. He thinks that people like him have to work hard day and night and still stand at the margin of society. Talking to this boy will definitely melt your heart and scare you of having a dreamless life.

Poverty is like punishment

Then we met a school-going girl named Mehak. Besides going to school, she helps her mother in the household chores. With her bright eyes, she aspires to become a beautician and to start her own beauty parlour. However, her father always tries to shut her up. According to him girls should not be allowed to step out of their homes! They are not meant to do any other work besides cooking and taking care of family. They do not need to go out and become independent. Her mother also supported her father’s thoughts. In the 21st century, while our daughters are flying the combat jets, are winning the play courts, are representing in the Parliament on one side but on the other side, daughters are facing this harassment from their own families.
