Dreams leave them with peace-less days and restless nights!
This visit to Khora Village, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), where we had gone as a volunteer of Hindrise Social Welfare Foundation was a completely different experience. In this Outreach which was astonishing as well as striking, we got a chance to look at the Changed Perspective of People towards Employment Opportunities, Training and Skill Development. We did a survey visit there to know the actual working conditions of the people.
There were people from different backgrounds and religions, most of them, feared the ongoing dispute of CAA/NRC. Due to the lack of Awareness and Information, people thought that we were there to collect their personal information to create the database for CAA/NRC. We tried our best to make them understand and comfortable. People there were involved in different works; like selling goods, stitching, house cleaning etc. Few male and maximum female were occupied there in the unskilled manual occupations. They were eager to attend skill development programs. Women wanted to participate in the training programs of stitching, tailoring and beauty parlour courses.
Though few miscreants were present there too, these miscreants had threatened us to leave that place! Women were influenced; they were afraid to share their occupational and personal information. The most interesting fact which has gathered the attention was a blank column of our Outreach form. We were supposed to fill there the details of required Legal Aid, but nobody was willing to share their details. Ironically, according to residents, this underdeveloped area was all free from every crime and criminals!
During the interaction with more people, we get to know that it is a male dominating area where women have not been allowed to speak out. It is essential to aware women about their rights to open them up and to ensure their active participation. In this area Government water supply was not available, people were depended on Ground Water, but they were happy that at least they are getting water. However, the electricity supply was better there. The graduated youngsters were willing to work in the IT courses. They were confident and waiting for the right work opportunities. Their dreams of better work leave them with peaceless days and restless nights!
