In the hours of the worst\nhumanitarian unfortunate events, our NGO for social welfare in India, Hindrise\nFoundation, serves the severely affected poor and helpless families to make\nthem stand tall and walk ahead with the heart full of hope and brightness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Facts and Figures Concerning Poverty in India<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>As per the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Poverty_threshold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"World Bank Poverty Line (opens in a new tab)\">World Bank Poverty Line<\/a>, there is an accelerating slump in the poverty rate in India as in 2011-12, it was 58%, and it moved down to 37% in 2017-18. <\/li><li>As per the Tendulkar Poverty Line, poverty witnessed a downfall from 14.9% in 2011 to 7% in 2017. <\/li><li>Out of the entire population residing in India&#8217;s rural areas, 25.7% is living under the line of poverty. On the other hand, in India&#8217;s urban areas, 13.7% of the population resides below the line of poverty. <\/li><li>More than 1.77 million people are homeless in India. <\/li><li>63% of Indians aged between 20 and 24 are unemployed. <\/li><li>The rate of unemployment in India hit 7.1% in Jan 2020.<\/li><li>14.9% of India&#8217;s population is undernourished.<\/li><li>69% of under-five deaths in India were due to malnutrition.<\/li><li>As per UNICEF Report, India recorded 8, 82,000 deaths of children below five years in 2018. <\/li><li>Every hour, three women become victims of rape. <\/li><li>As per NCRB data, 67 women get raped every day.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Although there is a decline in the poverty across Indian borders, the figures still should fall for a proper balance in the society.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Causes of Poverty in India <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The causes of poverty in India are-<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unhygienic Population Growth or Population Explosion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>India&#8217;s population has unwaveringly witnessed an unexpected\nincrease over the years. In the last 45 years, it has expanded at a 2.2% rate\nper year, which clearly means that, on average, around 17 million people are\nincluded in the population of the country every year. It has also boosted the\ndemand of consumption goods more than before. The population growth at an\nunstoppable rate won&#8217;t let the figures concerning poverty lessen, and it would\ncontinue to increase in a developing country like India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rapid population growth escalates the dependency ratio, that is,\nan earning member has more persons to assist. It eventually leads to lower per\ncapita consumption expenditure, which is insufficient to meet the primary\nrequirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have observed that the population explosion has adversely\naffected the rate of growth associated with per capita income, saving, and\ncapital formation, which is crucial for poverty reduction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Price Rise <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The rise in price has been steady within India&#8217;s geographical\nboundaries, and it has increased the burden on the shoulder of the poor. Even\nthough some people have received benefits from this, individuals or families\nbelonging to lower-income groups have suffered a lot because of it and are not\ncapable enough to meet their minimum demands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Indolent Agricultural Performance and Poverty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The poverty ratio has witnessed a decline in the year of sound\nagricultural output. The betterment in agricultural performance can bring\nnumerous employment opportunities and reduce food grains&#8217; prices. Punjab and\nHaryana&#8217;s experience proves that with agricultural extension through modish\nhigh productive technology, the poverty ratio may get reduced up to a\nsignificant limit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The poverty ration in States like <strong>Bihar, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, and East U.P. <\/strong>is very high due to their lack of adaptability of newly introduced high return-driven technology, and consequently, agricultural performance has not been up to the mark. Most Indian regions stay semi-arid and rain-fed zones where agricultural productivity and income, along with employment, cannot be enough to assure a notable decline in poverty level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social Factors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides economic factors, several social factors that prevail in\nIndian society become the barrier in the path of the eradication of poverty\nfrom the roots of India. Barriers in this regard are the caste system, specific\ntraditions, and educational barriers concerning awareness about basic needs and\nlegal rights, laws of inheritance, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Major Chunk of Illiterate Population<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Illiteracy makes people catch up labor jobs or jobs on which they\nget paid wages on a daily basis.
